Fall Allergies AGAIN!

Here we are again! It’s been so dry and they are harvesting beans now and corn will be next.

The golden rod is blooming and the bees are buzzing around gathering their last nectar before the cold weather sets in.

Many of us still have green tomatoes on the vine and the red ones are so huge they have split! I brought in about a dozen red tomatoes and they are the biggest I’ve ever gotten from this variety. It’s been a strange summer. We had rain all of July and not a drop in August or early September.

The kids are back in school. And now the dreaded ‘bugs’ begin to spread. I caught a virus over the past couple of weeks and though it has not been serious, it certainly set off my allergies. Now I’m drowning in snot and my eyes are red and swollen, thanks to, you said it, HISTAMINE!

Histamine is a signaling molecule that helps us respond to injuries and infections. But what I’ve come to learn is that many of us don’t effectively break down the histamine that we produce in our bodies. They call this “histamine intolerance”. And I suffer with it, wouldn’t you know.

So what’s the remedy?

You guessed it:

Remove histamine provoking foods from the diet (look that up on the web). Eat mostly paleo and low carb with lots of veggies and clean meats and fish.

Make sure you are not exposed to mold in your home and work environments.

Reduce exposures to all kinds of chemicals around you such as perfumes, dyes, and preservatives.

AND

Use a few well-chosen supplements to help break down all that histamine. I will be glad to discuss that with you at a visit.
